Aida and I had another one of those lunch hours where we decided to treat ourselves to something new. The Jalan Bangkung row has some lovely restaurants but we never journey there for lunch and even for dinner it’s a place that I only think to go once or twice a year. I think it’s because it’s away from the usual bustling Bangsar circuit and all the shops so unfortunately people tend to give it a miss. It’s a shame but I guess this is where the term ‘location is key’ comes into play.
We happened to find ourselves on this row during our lunch yesterday as a new holistic shop had opened up and we wanted to check out their selection of essential oils and natural beauty products. After a bit of shopping to soothe the soul we decided to try out one of the lunch specials that all the restaurants were offering.
Tea for Two’s lunch menu sounded both appealing and agreed with our wallets (RM19 for a soup, main, and dessert) and so our minds were made up.
It started off with a cream of broccoli soup with a slice of garlic toasted baguette..
The soup was rich and creamy…filling enough that I could have probably been happy with just that and the bread. The bread had a strong garlic aroma and was crisp and buttery. I enjoyed taking alternate slurps of soup and bites of the bread.
There was a choice between a pasta dish and a chicken dish for the mains and I went for the chicken…
This was a chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms and chives with a side of chips and salad…The chicken was pan seared and had a lovely crisp golden exterior while the middle stayed very moist. I believe the mushrooms helped to give the chicken more tenderness. I was happy to see fries as I’ve been staying away from them for a while now and so I figured I could indulge just a little. Good thing it was balanced out by the salad!
Dessert was a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream with a chocolate drizzle…I was stuffed by this point and so only had a few bites.
This set lunch was definitely worth it…but since I’m not used to having such heavy lunches I was sleepy the rest of the day…haha…so I guess it’s not a menu that is conducive to a desk job.
