(In the tune of Phoebe’s Smelly Cat)
Stinky Fruit, Stinky fruit why are they eating you?
Stinky Fruit, Stinky fruit your thorns should have warned them off…
They won’t take you to hotels…
You’re obviously too strong of a smell…
You may not be a bed of roses,
And you’re no friend to those with noses.
Stinky fruit, Stinky fruit why are they eating you?
Stinky fruit, Stinky fruit your thorns should have warned them off!
To tell you the truth, I adore Durian. It just so happened when I was enjoying this creamy, tart fruit the song Smelly Cat kept playing in my head, and so I thought it would be funny to do a version focusing on this King of Fruits. To those who haven’t had the chance of trying a durian before, I will tell you that it is an acquired taste. Either something you love or hate. It’s like fruit and cream cheese rolled into one.
My favorite way to eat it is straight from it’s the thorny casing. Or to have it mashed and wrapped in a thin crepe. Oh, so pungent and delicious!
